LWIR camera with CoaXPress interface

Gobi-640-CXP has been the first LWIR camera available with a CoaXPress (CXP) interface and the flexibility of Power over CXP. The camera is suited for high speed imaging at full 640×480 resolution over a coax cable exceeding 100m. In windowing mode the frame rate can even be further increased.

„The CoaXPress standard is now widely accepted on the market and the number of products based upon it is growing tremendously.“ says Marc Damhaut, CEO of Euresys. „This standard provides an unprecedented level of interoperability between cameras and frame grabbers. It is the welcome successor of the now 15-year old CameraLink.“

At Vision 2014, Xenics presents a GigE-Vision/CameraLink/ CoaXPress camera interface. Its electronics is common to all camera configurations, so virtually all kinds of sensors can be accommodated. The interface supports several of Xenics‘ product groups: Gobi (LWIR at a resolution of 640×480 or 384×280 pixels), Bobcat (SWIR, 640×512 or 320×256) and Lynx (line-scan SWIR, 1×512, 1×1024 and – a unique layout – 1×2048).

„With the combination of a simple and inexpensive cable with high-bandwidth transmission and triggering capability, we open up applications in machine vision, such as inspecting, identifying and measuring parts, pick&place and assembly, high-speed sorting, failure analysis, hot-spot detection, traffic control and medical applications“ says Hervé Copin, Sales Manager at Xenics. „Also for surveillance applications, the integration of our IR cameras in a PTZ or gimbal system will become much simpler with the single all-in-one and ruggedized CXP cable.“ A decisive advantage of the new IR camera designs is that they cover the full wavelength realm from SWIR to LWIR – including thermography. In addition, the cameras come with Xeneth 2.5, a Graphical User Interface. It provides easy control of all IR camera settings to optimize performance and provide fast data analysis. An extended LabView SDK is also available allowing easy integration of all the cameras in any LabView application.

Gobi-384/Gobi-640-GigE/-CL/-CXP is a well-received bolometer camera. Its CXP version has now been fully integrated with Euresy’s new Coaxlink cards. The CXP frame grabbers offering one, two and four CXP connections, and PCIe Gen 2 and Gen 3 interface. All Xenics GigE/CXP cameras and Euresys Coaxlink cards comply with GenICam. Because the CXP cameras and the Coaxlink cards conform to the GenAPI standard, users can access the camera parameters and the frame grabber parameters in exactly the same way. Programmers do not have to study or use multiple programming interfaces. This allows system integrators and inspection machine makers to easily upgrade a machine using a GigE Vision or USB3 camera to CoaXPress when increased performance is required.
